Pomquet Beach Provincial Park & St. George's Bay

Pomquet Beach Provincial Park is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of St. George’s Bay. This U-shaped inlet, sheltered from the cold ocean currents, boasts some of the warmest waters Nova Scotia has to offer.
Its unique coastal structure and favorable water temperature make it ideal for a variety of water activities, including swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, scuba diving, and more.

This 3 km long, supervised beach is fully wheelchair accessible, with the addition of a new Mobi-Mat® in 2018 and a Mobi-Chair®—a lightweight floating beach wheelchair—ensuring everyone can enjoy the beauty of the beach. Other park highlights include:

Pomquet Acadian Hiking and Dune Trails

Only 1 km from Your Dome.

Before reaching the beach, take a left at the trailhead located right before the Pomquet Beach Parking Lot. This scenic route offers fantastic views of St. George's Bay, the sand dunes, and the fascinating process of dune succession. Along the way, you'll be treated to a rare view of the Domes, which can only be seen from this special spot on the trail!

Only 5 km Away: Pomquet Acadian Trails
For even more outdoor adventure, explore the Pomquet Acadian Trails, a 6 km coastal and inland multi-use trail system perfect for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

The trail system includes:

  • 3 stacked loops for varied terrain
  • 1 km linear coastal trail that offers breathtaking views of St. George's Bay and Pomquet Beach, with Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island visible in the distance!
